Expertise

  • Pollen analysis of natural deposits (e.g. lake sediments, peats, soils) and archaeological contexts
  • Physical measurements of deposits, including magnetic susceptibility and loss-on-ignition

Biography

I am a palaeoecologist working on long-term environmental change in Norway and Ireland, in particular in connection to farming history. In both countries I have worked on research projects relating to the reconstruction of past human impact and vegetation dynamics, closely interlinked with archaeological survey and excavation. In Norway I am investigating the use of clearance cairns in the Iron Age and Medieval period through the project Management of arable remnants in outfields, funded by the Research Council of Norway.
My PhD involved detailed palaeoecological investigations on peats, mineral soils and lake sediments at Barrees, Beara peninsula, Co. Cork, Ireland, in the context of the archaeological project Marginal Landscapes: Upland Settlement in Late Prehistoric Ireland. Pollen analysis was the main investigative tool, complemented by 14C dating, macrofossil and fossil wood analyses, and physical measurements including magnetic susceptibility and loss-on-ignition. This work, in particular, provided an environmental context for the Bronze Age to medieval period upland local farming activity, through reconstruction of landscape patterns, woodland dynamic, peat initiation and blanket bog development.
I have recently worked as a palaeoecologist on the excavation of The Mill at Kilbegly, along the N6 Ballinasloe to Athlone National Road Scheme, where my palaeobotanical work provided an environmental context for the medieval horizontal mill and its operation.
My research interests are reconstruction of Holocene climate change and human impact on the environment (vegetation, soils and landscape); palaeoecology; environmental archaeology; pollen analysis

Department of Botany, University of Bergen. Lange watches store would certainly be one of them. Nice clean design rolex replica and one of the best watches store to date, but hard to endorse for the above reasons. This rolex replica sale that the escapement receives an equal amount of energy each time regardless of how fully wound the mainspring barrels are. Unfortunately, replica watches uk seems like it will be quite hard to appreciate all this finishing since the replica watches is largely covered. And with a very limited annual production that maxes out at about 2017 timepieces per year, Zannetti focuses much of its imagination on the aesthetic details that make each watch a rarity. These details include highly decorated dials that may take well over a month to perfect, or exquisitely engraved replica watches and cases that rival some of the best. A nice looking watch, but I think I would have to pass on it, as I feel there are too many other more interesting replica watches at that price point.
